About Our Job
This position is work providing maintenance duties for all public areas including beaches, athletic areas, parks, natural areas, neighborhood parks and other county facilities. This includes working on maintenance projects and various record keeping duties.
Job Description:
Cleans and helps maintain beaches, picnic areas, parking lots, playgrounds, open areas in County parks, restroom facilities and buildings.
Removes refuse and paper from grounds and buildings.
Cleans, plants, fertilizes, mows, trims and maintains grounds and play areas for beaches and natural areas. Cut, trim, water and fertilize general turf, trees and bushes.
Works on maintenance projects, sets up and dismantles tables, chairs and decorations associated with special functions and room/facility utilization.
Operates heavy equipment, light automotive equipment, UTV’s, light landscape equipment and hand tools.
Keeps operating records, completes material requests, service requests and work orders. Keeps schedule of maintenance for assigned area(s). Performs daily safety checks and repairs as needed.
About You
Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or its equivalent; prefer some experience with small tools and light weight maintenance equipment. May require a valid Florida Driver's License at time of hire.
Job Competencies:
Experience working outdoors and possible maintenance experience, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, litter and debris and minor repairs.
Experience in working with the public and the ability to work independently.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Experience working with beach native species, plants, and animal dune systems, etc.
Physical Demands: Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. A dolly, cart or assistance from another team member is available when lifting excessive weight. There is occasional work in high, precarious places and occasional work around fumes, airborne particles and/or toxic/caustic chemicals.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
