Are you passionate about education and literacy? Are you looking to help young children be prepared to successfully start school?
Our ideal candidate would bring a background in education, child welfare, or office administration, as well as experience with fundraising, working with a board of directors, and a love of children and literacy in general.
The Gilstad Literacy Foundation (GLF), formed in 2021, serves Charlotte County as the local affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program. As an affiliate, GLF is responsible for enrolling children ages birth to 5 and raising the funds to support the Charlotte County Imagination Library (CCIL) program and the Foundation.

Job Description
Conduct basic administrative functions and communications, and program management involved in the foundation's daily operations.  Facilitate bank deposits and interface with the external bookkeeping company that handles those details.
Build and maintain strong professional relationships with business leaders and the funding community including key donors, foundations, public funders, service clubs, and businesses. Raise funds through events, speaking to community groups, and fundraising drives, in partnership with the Board, Executive Director, staff, and volunteers.
Expand child enrollment and supportive audiences by formulating and implementing comprehensive marketing, public relations, and social media campaigns.
Maintain transparent and regular communication with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director, staff, organizational partners, and parent and donor groups.
Partner with the Executive Director in writing grant applications and their reports.
Build and manage a volunteer cadre to assist with various roles that support the organization.
Follow the organizational requirements of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program as outlined in their documents.

Project Management, Planning, and Organizing The ability to identify and oversee all resources, tasks, systems, and people to obtain results while establishing courses of action that ensure work is completed effectively.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills The capability to handle difficult or sensitive issues while effectively communicating, building rapport, and relating well to colleagues, families, community partners, and donors.
Technology Skills The ability to maintain social media pages, interact with the website design team for updates, and use online email mass communications to communicate regularly with parent and donor audiences. Also, the ability to use computer design programs to create and publish the quarterly newsletter.

Qualifications

Minimum of bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience. Nonprofit experience is preferred but not required.
Part-time position of 15 – 20 hours per week, $20 per hour.
